熊野の築100年の古民家を学びの場に。コミュニティスクール「ソトノノノ」をつくりたい！

ご報告が遅くなりましたが、2026年4月24日（金）、クラウドファンディングのリターン⑨としてお約束していた記念樹の植樹を行いました。

当日は、アグロフォレストリーや環境教育に取り組むアーネット・エイミー、ローカル・ステュワードの晃子、熊野新道元理事のカルヴァーリョ・カロリナ、そして熊野を訪れていたアレックスが参加し、ご支援いただいた皆さまの記念樹を植樹しました。

今回植えたのは、この土地の環境に適した丈夫な常緑のカシの木です。成長とともに、台風や強風からこの場所を守る防風林となり、生物多様性や土壌環境の向上にもつながっていくことを願っています。

何より、この場所の未来を信じ、記念樹という形でご支援くださった皆さまに、改めて心より御礼申し上げます。

Dear Supporters,

Although this update comes later than we had hoped, we are happy to share that on Friday, April 24, 2026, we planted the commemorative trees promised as Supporter Return No. 9 of our crowdfunding campaign.

Amy Arnett, who works in agroforestry and environmental education, our local steward Akiko, Carolina Carvalho (former director of Kumano Shindo), and Alex, who was visiting Kumano, came together to plant the supporters’ trees.

We selected hardy evergreen oak trees suited to the local environment. As they mature, we hope they will form a natural windbreak that helps protect the site from typhoons and strong winds, while also supporting biodiversity and healthier soil.

Most importantly, we would like to once again express our sincere gratitude to the supporters who believed in the future of this place and made these trees possible.

植樹には、落ち葉を土づくりに生かし、段ボールによるシートマルチを施すなど、パーマカルチャーの考え方を取り入れました。雑草を抑え、土の乾燥を防ぎながら、できるだけ自然の力を生かして木々が根を張り、長く育っていける環境を整えています。

また、今回植えた記念樹には、ご支援いただいた方々のお名前を記したネームプレートを設置する予定です。

あわせて、リターン⑦・⑧としてお約束している熊野ヒノキのネームプレート（小・大）について、当初2025年9月に予定していた完成・設置が大幅に遅れておりますことを、改めて深くお詫び申し上げます。

現在も製作・設置に向けて準備を進めており、今回の記念樹のネームプレートとあわせて、一つひとつ形にしていく予定です。長い間お待ちいただいている皆さまには、大変申し訳ございません。完成・設置まで責任をもって進め、今後の進捗についても引き続きご報告いたします。

For the planting itself, we incorporated permaculture-based methods, including fallen leaves to help build the soil and cardboard sheet mulching to suppress weeds and retain moisture. Our aim is to create conditions in which the young trees can establish their roots and grow naturally and resiliently over time.

We also plan to add nameplates to the commemorative trees recognizing the supporters who made them possible.

At the same time, we would like to offer our sincere apologies regarding the small and large Kumano cypress nameplates promised as Supporter Returns No. 7 and No. 8. These were originally scheduled for completion and installation in September 2025 and are now significantly overdue.

Work toward their fabrication and installation is continuing, and we plan to move these forward together with the nameplates for the newly planted commemorative trees. We are very sorry to have kept our supporters waiting for so long. We remain committed to completing and installing them, and will continue to share our progress.
