新型コロナウィルスの影響により3月上旬からの相次ぐイベントキャンセルに続き、政府からの自粛要請を受け、新宿club SCIENCEは今、最大の危機に直面しています。皆様と遊べるこの場所を守る為にお力を貸して頂きたいです。

About this project

From the beginning of March we had begun experiencing the cancellation of many events at our venue due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The Japanese government requested self-restraint.(Meaning for us to refrain from opening our venue to the public.) This has lead to club SCIENCE having to face it’s first crisis. We need your help to protect a place where people come together and enjoy friends and music.

まず始めに、このページをご観覧頂きありがとうございます。

そして日頃より新宿club SCIENCEを応援して頂き誠にありがとうございます。

新宿club SCIENCEは2015年11月に東京新宿の歌舞伎町のど真ん中にオープンしたライブハウスです。

まだまだ若輩者のライブハウスではありますが、オープン以来1日の空き日を出す事もなく、通常のLIVEHOUSE TIMEを中心に、深夜のCLUB TIME、更には午前帯のイベントも開催するなど、昼夜問わず様々なジャンルの音楽イベントを発信しているライブハウスです。

Our Introduction

Firstly, we would like to thank you for stopping by our page, and we would also like to thank all of you who support club SCIENCE on a daily basis. Shinjuku club SCIENCE is a music venue/live house/bar that opened in the middle of Kabuki-cho in November 2015.

We are still a young venue, but have managed to come this far without having a single day where there wasn’t an event going on. We usually had bands play during our LIVE HOUSE TIME regular hours, club events from dusk until dawn and events that ran from early in the morning too. We are a live house that has continued to offer a variety of music genres, day and night.

新宿駅を最寄りとするアクセスの良さ、定評のある照明とこだわりの音響システム、豊富なドリンクメニュー。白を基調とした清潔感と開放感のある独立バースペースを武器に、日々進化を続けています。

インディーズを中心に時にはメジャーアーティストにも数多くご出演頂いてきました。

We are easy to access from Shinjuku station, have high grade lighting and sound systems, and also have a wide variety of drinks on the menu. With a clean, open, independent bar space color based in mainly white, we continue to grow everyday. We mainly feature indies bands but have had some major labelled artists blow up the stage as well.

イベント制作はもちろんの事、アーティストマネジメント・レーベル業務・ツアー制作・グッズ制作・各種撮影等、様々な角度からアーティストをサポートさせて頂いております。

In addition to producing events, we also support artists from a variety of angles. We manage artists, do label work, produce tours, create merchandise and support photo/video shoots.

新宿club SCIENCE 爆誕

実は当店は想像を絶するほど難産なライブハウスでした。

今でこそ話せますが、内装工事が中々始まらずオープンまで1ヶ月を切っても始まらないので、依頼していた内装業者さんを問い詰めると、なんと設備業者さんが全く揃っていない事態から始まり、ようやく工事着工日となり現場の様子を見に行くと、何も無い空間に工具箱1つのおじさんが1人いるだけ。通常は3ヶ月かけるライブハウスの内装工事ですが、この時点でオープン日の3週間前。「犬小屋作るんじゃ無いんだからさ...」と突っ込みたい気持ちをグッとこらえ、むしろ自分達でなんとかしなければと気持ちを切り替え、孤軍奮闘の3週間。

各業者さんの手配から工事のスケジュールを自分達で調整し、ようやく本格的に工事が開始されたのがオープン2週間前。

その2週間の中でも床下の配管工事をする前に床が貼られていたり、天井裏の配線や空調設備が完成する前に天井が貼られていたり、楽屋のトイレに男子専用の便器だけがついていたり、危うくステージの幅が2mにされかけたり、オープン4日前に届くはずの音響照明機材が手配されていなかったりと本当に毎日が戦争でした。

何日間も工事中のライブハウスに寝泊まりをし埃とペンキまみれになりながら、前日に音響照明機材の設営をし、当日に防音扉を付け、オープン直前まで床のタイルを貼るという超ギリギリの中で産まれました。

なんとかお店をオープンする事が出来たものの問題は山積みで、当初の音響照明設備はお世辞にも良いと言える環境ではなく、内装も所々未完成でした。そんな中でも日々ステージに立ってくれるアーティスト、観に来てくれるお客様がいたからこそ、この箱をアップデートしていく事が出来、去年無事に4周年を迎えられました。そんな命懸けでゼロから作り上げた新宿club SCIENCEをこれからも数々のアーティストの魂のこもったステージで積み重ね上げていきたいです。

ライブハウスといえば出会いの場

新宿club SCIENCEでは"音楽を楽しむ"はもちろんの事、それと同時にお酒も楽しめる空間で在り続けたいとも思っています。

ライブハウスは人と人との 「出会いと交流の場」である事も大切だと考えており、お酒を酌み交わしながら繋がりを深めていける場所です。

私たちスタッフもこの場所で沢山の人と出会い、沢山の思い出を作る事が出来ました。

新宿club SCIENCEには出演日でもないアーティストや関係者が毎日のように遊びに来てくれます。他愛のない話からつい喧嘩になってしまいそうな熱い話まで。。そんな当たり前の毎日が本当に大切な思い出ですし、これからも大事にしていきたいと思っています。

Live houses are where people meet

Shinjuku club SCIENCE is a place to, of course, enjoy music, but it’s also a place to enjoy drinks as well.. and we want to keep it that way, We believe that it’s important for a live house to be “somewhere where people can come together and connect” , a place where people can have drinks together and deepen connections.

Our staff have also met and made wonderful memories with so many people at this venue.

We have artists and staff members who come to visit the venue even if they aren’t playing or working that day. They share every day small talk, and sometimes get caught up in heated conversations..Days like these are precious memories, that we want to cherish and make more of.

ライブハウスを生業としている以上、この場所を選んでくれるアーティストやお客様が居なければ成り立ちません。

そんな方々にご協力をお願いする事は正直、心苦しい面もあります。しかしまたサイエンスで笑顔で再会し、新しい思い出や新しい出会いをこれからも沢山この場所を通して提供し、少しでも恩返していきたいと心より思っています。

As a live house, we wouldn’t be able to exist without the artists and customers who use us as their venue of choice.

It does make us uncomfortable to have to ask people like you guys for help like this. However, we want to see everybody again at SCIENCE with smiles on their faces. We want give back to you all by continuing provide and share new encounters and memories.  

プロジェクトの目標

「音楽好きな誰もが楽しむことが出来るこの新宿club SCIENCEという場所を守り抜きたい」

この目標を実現させる事。

それは気合だけで乗り切ることが出来ません。

どうしても皆様からのご支援が必要です。

営業自粛期間中でもライブハウスを維持する為に必要な家賃、光熱費、人件費を含む固定経費、オープン資金借入返済等、毎月最低でも300万円以上の経費がかかります。

3月上旬からのイベントキャンセルにより売上が徐々に減少。そしてついには外出自粛要請や非常事態宣言を受けてイベントの開催が困難になり、売上が殆ど無い状況で400万円以上の実損害が発生し本格的に経営が困窮する状態に陥っています。

収束の見通しが立たず、ライブハウスに対するこの影響が5月6日以降もほぼ確実に続くものと感じており、店舗維持の為に最低でも500万円が必要です。

ご支援頂いたお金の使用用途に関しましては、営業自粛期間中であってもどうしてもかかってしまうライブハウスを維持していく為の諸経費として大切に使わせて頂きます。

会場の維持存続が出来た暁には、皆様から頂いたパワーとご支援を基に、これまで以上に日本の音楽シーンをライブハウスという根底からフックアップして行く事を更なる目標として掲げていきます。

そして、もう一つ大切な人と人との「出会いと交流の場」でもある事に繋がるべく、新宿club SCIENCEらしい下記のリターンをご用意させて頂きました。

Our project goal

“We want to protect Shinjuku club SCIENCE, a place where anyone who likes music can come and have great time.”

This is our goal.

But we can’t achieve it just by being enthusiastic.

We need your help.

The expenses to maintain a live music venue per month is least 3 million yen. These expenses include rent, utilities, and fixed expenses including labour costs, and repayment of open loans. The cost of these expenses don’t change even during this period of self-restraint against businesses.

Our sales gradually declined due to event cancellations starting in early March. Eventually, we were asked to refrain from going out by the Japanese government and shortly after, a state of emergency was declared. This made it almost impossible to hold events, and with almost no sales, we incurred financial damages of over 4 million yen, causing us to fall into a state of full-scale business distress.

With no end to this pandemic in sight, we’re almost certain the negative impact this issue has brought upon our live house will continue even after May 6th. This leaves us needing at least 5 million yen to maintain our live house.

The money we receive from your support will be carefully used towards various expenses required to maintain the live house during this period of business-restraint.

Once we’re able to maintain the venue, our next goal will be to pull the Japanese music scene up from the ground like never seen before. The strength and support from you all will be what helps us do so.

想定されるリスクとチャレンジ

正直、コロナ収束の見通しが立たないこの状況に加えてclub SCIENCEとしてもクラウドファンディングという初の試みに不安と期待の両面を抱えています。

もちろんチャレンジという行為に必ず付随する不安はありますが、成功した暁には必ず掲げた目標に全力で挑んで参ります。

Anticipated risks and challenges 

To be honest, the fact that we can’t see the end of the Covid-19 pandemic and the fact that we are attempting this fundraiser for the first time gives us, a sense of both anxiety and anticipation. We are anxious about this challenge, but we know that when we succeed we will move towards our next goal, full strength. Please note that your donations will be handled with great care and be put towards rent, employee pay and other expenses we may face during this self-restraint period.

最後に

ご来場されるお客様・アーティスト様・イベンター様を中心に本当にたくさんの方々のお陰で新宿club SCIENCEは去年の11月で4周年を迎える事が出来ました。

何の後ろ盾も無い状態でゼロからこのライブハウスを作り、内装などもほぼDIY精神でここまでやってきました。

「サイエンスなくならないよね？大丈夫だよね...？ 」という心配の連絡を多数頂き、改めて愛されているライブハウスだと痛感しています。

音楽が与える治癒力。そしてお酒を介してのコミュニケーションの輪の拡大は際限を知りません。

Lastly

Shinjuku club SCIENCE was able to celebrate it’s 4th anniversary last November thanks to our event planners and artists, but mainly our customers who came to the events. This live house was built from scratch with no backup and the interior designs are mostly DIY finished.

We have received so many calls from worried people asking, “Is SCIENCE going to disappear? Is it going to be okay..?” Hearing these concerns reminded us of how this live house is one that is loved by so many people.

The healing power of music, and the limitless possibilities of connection that having drinks together gives us.

Even though the end to this pandemic is unclear, we would greatly appreciate it if you supported our fundraiser for artists to be able to have a place to express themselves live, and for our customers who love music.

We want to bring back the Shinjuku club SCIENCE that overflows with music, smiles and toasts!

Let’s not only celebrate our 4th anniversary, but all the way up to our 100th together.
