「KUMANONISUMU！2022」は“熊野に住む”というアーティストインレジデンスです。招待されたアーティスト達がそれぞれの作品を完成させ、熊野市の公共スペースや旧神川中学校にて、ワークショップや展示会を行います。

ーKUMANONISUMUー 「熊野に住む」、と言う言葉通り、ある一定期間熊野に住んでみることからこのような名前になりました。
１. オーストリアから8名のアーティストが熊野にやって来ます！
２. 1ヶ月間滞在する間に、熊野で見るもの、聞くもの、感じたことをもとに、それぞれ考えて来た制作案にそって独自の作品を作り上げます。

人口約1万5千人のこの街は、いわゆる日本の過疎の地域のひとつです。
A sparsely populated Japanese town, with a population of about 15,000.
その市街地から車で15分、飛鳥町という自然豊かな土地に生まれた私（えのもとひさ）は、田舎ならではの隣近所の優しいあたたかな人々に囲まれて育ち、地域の餅拾いや盆踊りなどが大好きでした。
I (Hisa Enomoto) was born in Asuka-cho, a lush, natural area 15 minutes by car from the city center, and grew up surrounded by warm and friendly neighbors in the countryside. I loved the local traditions such as Mochi-catching and Bon-dances:)
地元の高校を卒業後、東京の創形美術学校に進学、研修旅行でオーストリアのウィーンを訪れ、その街の空間に惹かれ、その後ウィーン美術アカデミーに入学しました。卒業後もウィーンで活動を続け、現在美術家として18年目を迎えています。
海外での生活の中、帰郷の度にあらためて地元の美しさ、良さを実感するとともに、過疎化、少子化、空き家増加の問題に対し色々と考えるようになりました。また世界的にも課題になっている資源問題、エコへの取り組み、そして当時東北大震災も起こったことから、美術を通して、また海外に住んでいると言う状況を活用し、国や文化を超えて人がつながりありたすけ合うことでより良き世界につながっていくことができないか？と考えるようになり2011年から人がつながるネットワーク機関「コケ申す。」というグループを結成し、国内外で『鯉のぼりプロジェクト』を行い、また「家プロジェクト」を構想しました。
After graduating from a local high school I went on to the Sokei Academy of Fine Arts in Tokyo, Japan. On a study trip I visited Vienna, Austria, and was impressed by the beautiful city. Later I decided to continue with my study of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. After graduation, I continued to live in Vienna where I have been working as an artist for the past 18 years.
During my life abroad, every time I returned home, I was reminded of the beauty of my hometown, but also about the problems of depopulation, declining birth rate, and increasing number of vacant houses. I began to think about natural resource issues and eco-friendly initiatives that also become a global challenge. In 2011, at the same time to the Great Tohoku Earthquake in Japan, the idea of "KOKEMOOS“ was born, an initiative that connects people with different cultures and fields. Our group developed several Projects such as "Koinobori Project" in Japan and in Turkey and the "House Project" that served as an inspiration for further initiatives.

2012年、熊野市神川町の木造の旧中学校を町のためにどうにか活用したい、と活動されている住民の方々に出会ったことをきっかけとして、友達の作家さんを招待し、使われていなかった古民家をお借りして滞在先とした「熊野ニスム！」の前身となるアーティストレジデンスを行いました。さらに2017年には地元有志のご支援の元、地域の方々の協力を得て、国内外4名の作家さんを招待し、神川町の桜祭りと同時開催で「熊野ニスム！ 2017」を行うことができました。

他方から来た方が訪れる場所を新鮮で興味深く感じるように、日常の見慣れていたものや価値を失いかけたものたちは、アーティストの感性で新たなものに変換され、魅せられ、そのものだけでなく、そこに関わる人たちや場所も、新たな輝きを取り戻します。
ーそのように人もものもまた生き々々としたものになっていくー
様々な作品を通して、それぞれの「熊野」を感じて頂き、地域活性化につながることが、このプロジェクトの根幹ではありますが、地方の良さを実体験してもらうこともその醍醐味の一つです。
豊かな自然に囲まれ地域や隣人付き合いなど大都会とはまた違った人間らしいくらしができる、そんな素敵な機会を住人の方々との交流の中で感じてもらえれば嬉しいです。
In 2012, I met some residents of Kamikawa-cho, Kumano, who were working to repurpose an old-style wooden junior high school building for the town's benefit. Following their example, we found an old traditional style house that had fallen out of use, and founded an artist residency in the style of "KUMANONISUMU!"
In 2017, with the support of local volunteers, we invited Japanese and international artists to participate in the first "KUMANONISUMU!" event, coinciding with the Kamigawa sakura festival.

Just as people from far away see the places they visit with new eyes, the artists' sensibilities transform tired and familiar objects into something new and fascinating through their unique perspectives. They are able to breathe new life and luster into these old places, objects and things.
In this way, people and things become alive and vibrant again.
And then they will experience firsthand the wealth and abundance of the Kumano region. We are happy to give them the wonderful opportunity to live surrounded by rich nature, far from big city life in terms of community and neighborliness.
We have also started this project in the hopes that through the various works of art, people will be able to experience the essence of "Kumano", and that this will lead to the revitalization of the region.
このプロジェクトで実現したいこと
「KUMANONISUMU! 2022」では、オーストリアから8名、国内から数名のアーティストを招待。グローバル化した世界における生活空間および日常の暮らしを再考案、再定義するためにさまざまな方法が検討されます。過疎の影響を受ける地域の文化、経済、生態学的変化などを作家自身のコンセプトや方法で調査、放棄された場所や空きスペースの影響に注目、そしてその土地、場所に属している、ということに注意を向け、アート作品が創り出されます。
For our event „KUMANONISUMU! 2022" international and Japanese artists have been invited to rethink and redefine living spaces and everyday life in a globalized world, and to explore the cultural, economic, and ecological changes in a region affected by depopulation. The artworks we create will draw attention to the impact of abandoned and vacant spaces, and underline the importance of land and space.
プロトジェクトリーダーは熊野市出身の私「えのもとひさ」と、ウィーン 在住のキュレーター「ティナ・ナツビリシュビリ」。
The project is organized by Hisa Enomoto, a native of Kumano, and Tina Natsvlishvili, a curator living in Vienna, Austria.
えのもとひさはウィーン美術アカデミーで絵画を学び、現在ウィーンを拠点に活動するアーティスト。これまでの「熊野ニスム！ 」の実績をもとに、この企画に賛同したティナ・ナツビリシュビリと共に、今回「KUMANONISUMU! 2022」を運営します。
ティナ・ナツビリシュビリは、ウィーン美術アカデミーで絵画を学び、ウィーン応用美術大学で文化管理を学びました。 現在はアートギャラリーとアーティストスタジオの管理マネージャーとして働き、ウィーンのさまざまな芸術機関でキュレーターのアシスタントを務めています。またいくつかの展覧会を共催、出版物にも携わっています。
Hisa Enomoto studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and currently works and lives in Vienna. After the success of previous "kumanonisumu!" projects, we are pleased to announce "kumanonisumu! 2022"
Tina Natsvlishvili studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and cultural management at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. She worked as an administrative manager of an art gallery and an artist studio and served as a curatorial assistent in different art institutions in Vienna, where she developed and co-organized several exhibitions and publications.
ー現地での参加型芸術プロジェクトを展開します。ー
We will develop interactive and participative art projects in public space of Kumano.
国内外のアーティストには、異文化交流の機会を生み出すことを期待されています。ワークショップやその他の交流において、熊野市民からの新しいアイデア、質問、懸念、要望を拾い上げ反映させるために、熊野市の様々な場所に約ひと月滞在します。そこでは「家」としての場の意味、またそこに所属しているということに対して、流動的考え方が芽生えます。
The invited artists will create opportunities for cross-cultural exchange and will stay in various locations in Kumano for approximately one month to pick up and reflect on new ideas, questions, concerns, and requests from Kumano residents during the workshops and their interactions. The participants will develop a fluid concept of the meaning of place as a "home" and of belonging. The program will be held in the city of Kumano for about one month.

今夏7月15日から8月14日までの期間、神川町、飛鳥町、熊野市市街地および御浜町、これら４つの地域を舞台に宿や空き家、およびホームステイのかたちでアーティストが滞在し、熊野市の公共スペースや旧中学校にて、インスタレーション、パフォーマンスを実現します。その経過を写真や動画に記録し、旧中学校や熊野市文化交流センターなどにて最終展示（８月１１日から８月１４日を予定）をし、また様々なディスカッションイベントやワークショップを同時開催します。調査研究段階から展示会の終わりまでプロジェクト期間全体を通し、アーティストとキュレーターそれぞれの日々の活動における発見や出会い、経験などをオンラインブログに記録し、配信いたします。
From July 15 to August 14 in summer 2022, the invited artists will stay in vacant houses and lodges in four areas, including Kamikawa, Asuka, Kumano, and Mihama, and will also stay at a former junior high school in Kumano City, where they will prepare installations and performances. The process will be documented in photographs and videos, and a final exhibition will be held at the former junior high school and the Kumano City Cultural Exchange Center (scheduled for August 11 to 14). Various discussion events and workshops will also be held simultaneously. Throughout the entire project, from the research phase to the end of the exhibition, discoveries, encounters, and experiences of both artists and curators in their daily activities will be recorded and distributed in an online blog.
プロジェクト実施にあたり、多くの住民、ワークショップや展示に来られる方、またお盆に帰省される方にとって、コロナやまた少子化の影響でなくなりつつある地域の「お祭り」ごとのように機能し、また同時に過疎の現状を目の前に、「家=故郷（ふるさと）」そして「未来」に向けた問いかけが生まれ、新たな視点が溢れ出ることを願います。
For many residents, visitors, and Bon Festival homecomers, the project functions as a local festival, the kind of which is disappearing due to Corona and declining birth rates, and at the same time, in the face of the current state of depopulation, it raises questions about "home", "old country" and "future", and also provides an opportunity for the residents and visitors to meet each other. We hope that new perspectives will emerge from this synergy.

Fusuma Karakuri is a form of theater where backgrounds (traditionally painted on the typical Japanese Fusuma panels) are moved in such a way that they create new spaces and backgrounds. Originally the Fusuma Karakuri was often a kind of intermission filler when the staging or scene were changed.
Over time, Fusuma Karakuri theater has established as an independent theater form with its own performances.
Linus would like to invite the young audience to paint and create the Fukusu Theater on their own and animate it in a simple way with their hands.
The workshop will take place on August 11th from 9am to 12pm at former Konowe Junior High School in Kamikawa.

Krisztina would like to explore the techniques and possibilities of film together with young people aged 13 and older. The workshop will give you an insight into camera work, dramaturgy and editing. In this workshop you will develop your own film idea, observe a topic and in the end you will make your own short film.
The workshop will take place on August 12th from 9am to 17pm at former Konowe Junior High School in Kamikawa.

想定されるリスクとチャレンジ
まず今回の企画に対して、オーストリアの文化省から助成金を頂けることになっており、それを招待アーティストとキュレーターの渡航費にあてる予定です。それ以外の必要予算（滞在費、制作費など、「資金の使い道」で詳細の通り）をこのクラウドファンディングでご援助いただくことを目標としております。なお本プロジェクトは実行確約型のため、目標金額未達成の場合は自費等で補填することで、「KUMANONISUMU！2022」を開催し、リターンを履行することを前提に、既に進行しています。
コロナの影響により外国人入国条件制限やビザ取得が義務付けられている現在、これらの手続きが問題なく行われることを願っています。入国条件によってはレジデンス開催時期のズレが生じる可能性も否めませんが、その都度状況を見極めつつプロジェクトを進めていきたいと思っております。
また現在何名か通訳者がいますが、プロジェクト期間中、今回の参加アーティストが多数な分、住民たちと最低限、また有意義なコミュニケーションをとれるよう、英語（もちろんドイツ語も）ができる方を随時探しております。ご興味のある方はもちろん、お知り合いの方などがいっらしゃいましたら、ここぞと英語力を発揮していただくべく、ぜひ下記メールアドレスまでお知らせください！
参加作家のなかには「地元料理などを一緒に調理してもらいドキュメンタリーを撮る」という企画を予定しているものもおります。コロナ禍の中でこのような企画をどのように実行できるか、現地で、場所やその提供者の方々とその方法を見つけ出していくこともたのしみな一つの挑戦です。（ピンチはチャンス！！）

Potential Risks and Challenges
For this project we already received the partial grant from the Austrian Ministry of Art and Culture, which will be used to cover the travel expenses of the invited artists and curators. The rest of the budget (accommodation, production, etc., as described in the "How the funds will be used" section) will be covered by this crowdfunding. In case our project cannot reach the desired amount, we still plan to held the project with our individual efforts.
We very much hope that the current restrictions on entry and visa requirements for foreigners in Japan due to Corona will not become an obstacle for our project. We cannot deny the possibility that the timing of the residency may be delayed depending on immigration conditions, but we would like to proceed with the project while keeping an eye on the situation on a case-by-case basis.
We are always looking for people who can speak English or German and can help the audience and the artists to communicate with each other in a minimal and meaningful way during the project period. If you are interested, or if you know someone with English or German skills, please let us know!
Some of the participating artists are planning to cook local dishes together with the local residents and make a film documentary about it. We are looking forward to finding out how we can implement such a project in times of Corona by working with the local people who provide the site and its facilities. (A pinch is an opportunity!!!)
