～世界に通用するSmooth JazzのCDを作りたい～
私の目標は世界で通用する音楽、演奏のできるSax player。
今はまだまだ未熟者です。
ですが、世界に出るための第一歩の作品を作りあげ、このCDに託したいです！
- About this project -
This is a project lead by the Japanese saxophone player WaKaNa with the goal of producing a new CD with the cooperation of a producer and musicians located in Los Angeles, expanding her musical activities all over the world.
~I would like to make a smooth jazz album for the entire world to enjoy~
My goal is to become a saxophone player whose music can be enjoyed all over the world.
There are still so many things I need to learn and experience though.
In order to take my first step I would like to produce an album which breaks down all boundaries.
プロフィール
千葉県出身のSax Player。
若手Pop Instrumental Band "LUCA"の中心メンバーしとして活動。
累計セールス枚数340,000枚を記録するJazzy Hip-Hopモンスターコンピレーションアルバム、"IN YA MELLOW TONE"シリーズに参加。
また、国内外多くのミュージシャンと共演する。
アメリカのサックスメーカーCannonball社のアーティストとして、アメリカ、ロサンゼルスで行われたCannonball社の20周年ライブに出演。
現在国内外問わず積極的に演奏活動を行っている。
Born in Chiba, Japan.
Central member of the young and upcoming pop instrumental band LUCA.
Participated in the Monster jazzy hip-hop compilation album "IN YA MELLOW TONE", a series which has sold over 340,000 copies.
Has performed with numerous musicians both in Japan and overseas.
A featured artist of instrument maker Cannonball, performing at the Cannonball 20th anniversary concert in Los Angeles USA. Currently active both in Japan and overseas.

Motion Galleryをご覧のみなさんこんにちは。
千葉県出身のSax player WaKaNaです。
高校の吹奏楽部でサックスを演奏し始めて早14年。
プロとして、自分という音を探し始め10年が経ちました。
尚美ミュージックカレッジ専門学校を卒業し、
在学中から組んでいるバンド
LUCAでの活動とソロでWaKaNaとして活動をし、
さまざまな音楽に触れ、自分たちの活動やお仕事で日本全国、アジアで演奏する機会が増えました。
ｰ Hello to everyone from motion gallery This is WaKaNa, a sax player from Chiba, Japan.
It has been 14 years since I started playing the saxophone in my high school brass band. As a professional, I have spent 10 years searching for the sound that is "me".
After graduating from the Shobi Musical College, I have been performing both in LUCA, the band which I joined during my time as a student, and also as a solo artist. I have experienced so many different types of music, and increasingly had chances to perform in Japan and in Asia as well.

LUCAはSax,Guitar,Keyboard,Bass,Drumsの５人編成で、オリジナル楽曲を中心に演奏するPop Instrument Bandです。
ｰ CDはLUCAとは違ったSound？ｰ
はい。サックスの入ったインストミュージックには変わりありませんが、1味違ったテイストの作品を作ってみたいです。
LUCAのメンバーと一緒にいつも演奏できることは私の誇りです。
ソロ活動をすることはバンドの宣伝にもなると思っているのでこれからも平行して活動したいです。
ｰ Is Wakana’s CD different from LUCA’s? ｰ
ｰ Yes.It is also instrumental music with saxophone, but I would like to try a little bit different sound.I’m proud of playing with LUCA’s members. I think my solo activity also gives publicity to LUCA’s music. So I also play in both style from now on.

今までは漠然と日本だけではなく海外で演奏したい！という思いでしたが、
2016年、自分の特に好きな音楽Smooth Jazzの本場、ロサンゼルスで憧れのアーティストのライブを見たり、一緒にジャムセッションをし、”WaKaNaの音楽はこれ”と言えるような自分名義のアルバムを作り”アメリカでもライブをしてみたい”という思いがさらに強くなりました。
- Up until now, The thought of performing in not only Japan, but overseas has carried me to my goals. However, in 2016, when I traveled to Los Angeles, which is the center of my beloved smooth jazz, I was able to see the concerts of artist I admired and was even able to jam with them. I felt the urge to find the music that was me, "WaKaNa's Music", to make an album, and have my own concert in the USA even stronger than before.

スムースジャズとは？
What is Smooth Jazz?
Saxなどの管楽器、鍵盤楽器、弦楽器がヴォーカルの代わりにキャッチーなメロディーを担当し、グルービーなリズム隊で構成され、歌のないインストの楽曲が多い。
R&B,Soul等のブラックミュージックにジャズの要素を加えた音楽のこと。
Smooth Jazzと聞いてピンとこない方も多いかと思いますが、カフェやショッピングモールなど街中で耳にする事の多い音楽です。
日本ではSmoothjazzを取り上げる番組や雑誌も少なく、まだ国内ではメジャーな音楽とは言い難いのが現状です。
今年に入りアメリカで演奏する機会を頂きましたが、演奏をご覧になっている観客の方々を見て、Smooth Jazzが現地の方々に受け入れられ愛されている音楽だということを感じました。
私が先頭となり日本にもSmooth Jazzを広めて、より多く日本の皆さんにもSmooth Jazzを聴いていただけるようにしたいと思います。
- Smooth Jazz is commonly instrumental. In place of vocals, usually a saxophone, keyboard or string instrument will take care of a catchy lead melody, backed by a groovy rythm. Elements of R&B, Soul and Jazz are found in this genre.
Perhaps not many people are familiar with smooth jazz, however there are actually many chances to hear it in cafes, shopping centers, and around town. In Japan, smooth jazz is not a major focus of magazines or TV shows, and it is difficult to consider it a major music genre. When I went to America in 2016, I was touched by how much the audience appreciated the smooth jazz and felt love for the music.
I wish to take the lead and share that love with everyone. Because smooth jazz is not well known in Japan, I wish give more and more people in Japan a chance to hear smooth jazz and know what wonderful music it is.

What kind of CD?
素晴らしいミュージシャンでプロデューサーの Greg Manning氏とコラボレーションしCDを制作します。
今回のCDにはアメリカ、LAで活躍されているミュージシャンの方々に参加して頂く予定です。
GorgeousでGroovyでSmoothな、聞く人すべてに納得して頂けるCDを制作することをお約束します。
本場のSmooth jazzプレイヤーと本物のSmooth jazzをお届けします！
- I plan to produce a CD with Greg Manning, who is a talented and wonderful music producer.
I also plan to have musicians in Los Angeles participate in this CD. I promise to make an album which is gorgeous, groovy and smooth, which I am sure that everyone will enjoy.
I will deliver smooth jazz from the real smooth jazz players.

バークリー音楽大学卒業後、ロサンゼルスを中心に活躍。

またソロアーティストとして今までに3枚のアルバムを発表。

“I was cruising the internet when I came across a YouTube video of a young sax player. The phrasing and the tone of the horn immediately grabbed my intention. The fact that she’s cute as a button didn’t even enter my mind … ;-)
I later found out that her name is Wakana Inamura. Fate would have it that she had planned a trip to the Newport Beach Jazz Festival and it just so happened that I played there.
It was the perfect occasion to meet her for the first time and talk about a future collaboration.
I’m very excited to be working with Wakana on her new CD that is geared towards the US market. You can never predict how the audience will react to a CD, but Wakana has all the right stuff to make a big impact in this genre.”
インターネットを見ていたらYoutubeで若いサックス奏者の動画を見つけた。
サックスのフレージングやトーンに直ぐ惹かれた。吹いていた彼女も可愛かったのにその時全然考えていなかった
… ;-)
その後彼女の名前がWaKaNaだという事を知った。運命かのように、WaKaNaは Newport Beach Jazz Festivalに来る予定でした。私もそこで演奏するつもりでした。
出会いや将来のコラボレーションについて話す完璧な機会でした。
US市場向けの新しいCDのためにWaKaNaと一緒に働く事をとても楽しみにしています。
CDはどんな反応されるのか予想出来ないけど、WaKaNaはこのジャンルに大きなインパクトを与える力を持っている。
？クラウドファンディングすることでどうなるの？
ｰWhat happens by doing crowdfunding?
今まで知らなかった方面の方々にも私の音楽を知っていただけるチャンスがきたと思っています。
私の地元、千葉県は都心に近く尚且つ海や山と自然に溢れる住みやすい街です。
もちろんイベントができそうな広い施設、土地もあります。
私がこのクラウドファンディングを成功させることで、将来、私が先頭となり日本中から世界中からアーティストを呼んで音楽フェスティバルのようなイベントを開催し、千葉を盛り上げ、たくさんの方々に私の地元、音楽を知っていただければと思っています。
特にSmooth Jazzという音楽は日本にまだあまり浸透しておらず、
もっと聴いていただける機会を作っていくことが必要だと思っています。
自分から率先してイベントを企画したり、ライブ活動をしてみたいです。
また、これから作るCDは一人で作るのではなく、みなさんと共に作り上げられる作品だと思います。
思い入れのある作品となって、残していただけるような作品にします！
ｰ I can make a great opportunity to let the people I haven't met yet know my music. My hometown, Chiba prefecture is close to Tokyo, and also the place full of nature.
Of course, there is enough space for big concerts or events. If my crowdfunding is successful, I will hold the events like music festivals,and call the musicians from all over the world together, and let a lot of people know about my hometown and my music.
Especially “Smooth Jazz” music has not spread throughout Japan yet, and it needs opportunities to be listened. I would like to take a lead to planning the events or concerts. I think my first CD will be the work made with everybody together. I hope it would be a something special for us.

長くなりましたが、最後に..
専門学校を卒業し、事務所に所属するわけでもなく、全て自分の意志で動いてきました。
”さまざまな場所で演奏したい”という一心でライブハウスだけではなく、路上やレストラン、ショッピングセンター、各地のイベント、球場、船、海、山..たくさん経験をしたと思っています。 上手くいったこともたくさんありますが、失敗だってたくさんありました。
ですが、ここまで大好きなサックス、音楽を続けられる環境にいられて私は幸せです。
これからもわたしという人物,人生をサックスで歌っていきたいです。
まずはこのクラウドファンディングを大成功させて、想いの詰まった、他にはできないCDを作りたいです。

- Not belonging to the office, I have decided everything by my own will since I graduated from college.
Just wishing to play in the various places, I have been playing not only at the live house, but also on the street, ship, beach, at the restaurant, shopping center, events in many places, ballpark and so on.
Sometimes I succeeded, but sometimes not. Anyway I am very happy now because I can continue to play the saxophone and music. I want to sing myself and my life by playing the saxophone. First,I will surely make this crowdfunding a success and make the CD which is one and only, filled with a lot of memories.
