日本とアメリカで映画制作を学び、ロサンゼルスの大学院修了後は、短編映画・長編映画・MV・
ウェブシリーズなど、ハリウッドの国際的な制作現場で撮影監督・監督・編集として活動。約4年
間のアメリカ生活を経て帰国後は、日本国内外の映画制作に携わり、アカデミー賞受賞経験を持
つ映画プロデューサー・山本晃久氏が関わる作品にも参加している。これまでに手がけた短編映画
は国内外の映画祭に多数入選。大学院の卒業制作では、プロデュース・監督・撮影・編集を一貫し
て担当し、10以上の国際映画祭で受賞・上映も実現した。物語とビジュアルの両面から感情に訴
えかける作品づくりを軸に、現在も映像表現の可能性を探求し続けている。
「私にとって映画とは、言葉では捉えきれない感情や、人が無意識に抱えている内面を映し出す手
段です。本作は、日常の中で見過ごされがちな感情や関係性に静かに光を当てる作品だと感じて
います。情報が溢れ、表層的なイメージが消費されていく現代において、この作品は観る者に立ち
止まり、自分自身や他者と向き合う時間を与えてくれると信じています。観客がそれぞれの経験と
重ねながら、心に残る何かを持ち帰ることのできる作品になることを願っています。」
Yukiko Cho studied filmmaking in Japan and the United States, and after completing her MFA in
Los Angeles, worked in international productions in Hollywood as a director, cinematographer, and
editor across short films, feature films, music videos, and web series. After approximately four
years in the U.S., she returned to Japan and has since been involved in both domestic and
international productions, including projects associated with Academy Award–winning producer
Akihisa Yamamoto. Her short films have been selected for numerous international film festivals,
and her graduate thesis film—on which she served as producer, director, cinematographer, and
editor—was screened and awarded at over ten festivals. She continues to explore visual storytelling
with a focus on emotionally driven narratives.
“To me, film is a way to express emotions that cannot be fully put into words, and to reveal the
inner worlds people often carry within themselves. This project quietly explores emotions and
relationships that are often overlooked in everyday life. In a time when images are constantly
consumed at a surface level, I believe this film creates space for reflection and deeper connection. I
hope it becomes a work that stays with the audience, allowing each viewer to find their own
meaning within it.”
