本事業は、短編映画『彼女はみつめる』の制作を通じて、女性が生きていく上どのように主体性を持つことができるのかをを描いている。
はじめまして。短編映画監督の窪田エミと申します。
ロンドン芸術大学卒業後、ロンドンを拠点にアート制作・キュレーションに従事。英国短編映画に助監督として参加し、撮影スケジュール管理および現場進行を担当。複数の短編映画に携わり、国際映画祭,公式選出作品を経験。BFI（英国映画協会）関連監督のもとで制作をサポート。2018年新進アーティスト賞開発好明より受賞。映画という表現を通して、人と人のあいだに生まれる距離や沈黙、感情のズレを静かに描いてきました。これまで、個人的な体験や観察を出発点に、日常の中にある違和感や言葉にならない感情を映像化してきました。本作では、そうした関心をさらに掘り下げ、より普遍的な視点から人間関係を描くことを目指しています。
女性主体の映画を通して、観客が自らの可能性を信じ、夢を実現する力を取り戻せる作品を届けたい。
Hi everyone, my name is Emi Kubota, the director of the short film.
After graduating from Chelsea College of Art, UAL, and briefly studying at Emerson College in Boston, I continued my craft in filmmaking. I was an assistant director on UK short films, overseeing scheduling and on-set operations and contributed to officially selected short films at international festivals and the London Film Festival. Supported directors affiliated with BFI and Channel 4. I am an Emerging Artist Award recipient by Yoshiaki Kaihatsu(2018).
I chose film as a medium to quietly depict the distance, silence, and emotional gaps that arise between people. Starting from personal experiences and observations, I visualise the discomfort and inexpressible emotions that exist in everyday life. In this film, I delve deeper into these concerns, aiming to portray human relationships from a more universal perspective.
Through female-led storytelling, I aim to leave audiences empowered and awakened, inspired to create, to dream, and to claim their voice.

背景 Background
元々は、フランス映画やコンセプチュアル作品にインスピレーションを受けストーリーを書き始めます。書き始めるうちに、SNSにまつわる恋愛実体験に辿りつき、自分自身のアート活動を軸にしたコンセプト「間」を取り入れて、物語を発展させます。
『彼女はみつめる』は、何かが欠けている状態ではなく、「間」によって判断や選択がなされているにもかかわらず、それが他者からは見えにくい状態を指す。主人公は不可視な存在ではなく、最も注意深く状況を観察し、「間」を通じて関係を捉え直す主体である。
Originally, the story began with inspiration from the works of French cinema and contemporary conceptual art. As I began writing, I was drawn to the lived experience of romantic relationships involving social media. I developed the story by incorporating the concept of "Ma," or "space," which is central to my own artistic practice.
"She Sees" does not refer to a state in which something is missing, but rather to a state in which judgments and choices are made based on "Ma," yet this space is difficult for others to see. The protagonist is not an invisible being, but rather an individual who observes the situation most carefully and reexamines relationships through "space."
テーマ・コンセプト Theme and Concept
本作『彼女はみつめる』は、東京に暮らす日本人女性と、海外に住む外国籍男性との遠距離恋愛を描いた短編映画です。二人の関係は、メールやSNSを通じて「確かに存在する関係」として続いていますが、一方的に断たれたことをきっかけに、女性は自身の感情や支えのあり方に向き合っていく。遠距離という状況の中で露わになる感情の限界や、親密さに必要な在り方を観察する作品です。
外国籍キャストを迎え、国境や文化差によって生まれる距離を身体的に可視化しながら、女性の視点から、判断と尊厳をもって関係を見つめ直す姿を描きます。東京という都市が持つ国際性と、日本的な「間」の感覚を取り入れた、現代的な親密さの肖像です。
「間」を判断の力として捉え、観察と選択によって関係を導く女性を描く短編映画です。
撮影は都内で行いますが、ほぼ英語でのセリフになります。最終的には、字幕つきの映画になります。
"She Sees" is a short film depicting a long-distance relationship between a Japanese woman living in Tokyo and a foreign man living abroad. Their relationship continues as a "real one" through email and social media. Still, when the relationship is unilaterally severed, the woman begins to confront her own emotions and the nature of support. The film examines the emotional limits exposed in long-distance situations and the nature of intimacy.
Featuring an international cast, the film physically visualises the distance created by borders and cultural differences, portraying a woman's perspective as she reexamines her relationship with discretion and dignity. Incorporating Tokyo's international nature and the Japanese sense of "ma," it is a portrait of modern intimacy.
This short film depicts a woman who views "ma" as a force of judgment, guiding her relationship through observation and choice.
While filming took place in Tokyo, the dialogue is mostly in English. The final film will be subtitled.

目的 Purpose
この作品の制作の目的は、SNSが発達したせいで即時的な反応や過剰な自己開示が評価されがちな現代社会において、「間」を通じて生まれる判断や選択を強さとして再定義することである。
SNSに影響される人間の心理とその限界と女性が主体的である映画を目標につくる作品である。
完成作品は国際映画祭への出品を通じて発表し、日本的な思考様式が現代的なテーマにどのように接続し得るかを示す。
The purpose of this film is to redefine the judgments and choices that arise from "ma" (the space between two people) as a source of strength in a modern society where the advancement of social media tends to value immediate reactions and excessive self-disclosure.
The goal of this film is to explore the ways social media influences human psychology and its limitations, and to create a film in which a woman takes the lead.
The completed film will be exhibited at international film festivals, demonstrating how Japanese ways of thinking can connect to contemporary themes.

Rikako Miura is a Tokyo-based actress working across Japanese and international independent film projects. She enjoys collaborating with filmmakers from different cultural backgrounds and is drawn to stories that explore human relationships and emotional nuance.

JUNKO ラインプロデューサー Line Producer
京都で生まれ育ち、大学時代にニューヨークに留学しコミュニケーションアートを専攻。帰国後、東京でテレビ制作に携わる。バラエティー、ドキュメンタリー、ドラマなどのアシスタント、ディレクターを経て、プロデューサーへ。幼いころから映画が好きで、幼少期の夢は字幕をつけるプロになることだった。テレビ業界での経歴をもって、改めて映画の世界にチャレンジする。
Born and raised in Kyoto, I moved to New York and majored in Communication Arts. After returning to Japan, I built my career in television production in Tokyo. Starting as an assistant and moving up to a director, I eventually became a producer, working across various genres including variety shows, documentaries and dramas.
My love for cinema began in early childhood, and my dream back then was to become a professional subtitler. Now, drawing on my extensive experience in the television industry, I am taking on a new challenge in the world of filmmaking.
Olga Gonithellis オルガ・ゴニテリス Composer 作曲家
ニューヨークを拠点とするフリーランス作曲家です。幅広いジャンルの映画音楽を手掛けてきました。バークリー音楽大学で映画・テレビ音楽作曲の学士号を取得し、2024年秋の48時間映画祭で最優秀スコア賞にノミネートされました。数々の映画祭で上映された作品に楽曲を提供しています。また、音楽ライブラリへの楽曲提供も行っており、直近では2025年にイタリアのリアリティ番組『Boss In Incognito』に楽曲提供しました。
Olga Gonithellis is a NYC-based freelance composer. She has scored films in many genres. She has a BA in music composition for film and TV from Berklee College of Music and received a Best Score nomination at the 48 Hour Film Festival 2024. She has contributed music to films that have been played across many film festivals. She also writes for music libraries, with her most recent placement on an Italian reality TV show, “Boss In Incognito” in 2025.

想定されるリスクとチャレンジ Obstacles
本プロジェクトは世田谷区国際平和交流基金助成事業に申請しており、クラウドファンディングと併せて制作体制の安定化を図ります。この資金をもとに、地元での撮影や国際協力を通して、街への還元も目指します。
今回はプロダクションファンディング（All in）での挑戦になるため、もし目標金額未達となった場合でも、不足する資金は自費で補填し、映画の制作・完成および映画祭への出品を実現します。リターンも必ずお届けしますので、ご安心ください。
やむを得ない事情によりプロジェクトに変更や遅延等が発生した場合は、メールやアップデート記事にて速やかに進捗をご報告いたします。
We will apply for a grant from the Setagaya City International Funding and use crowdfunding to support the production. With this funding, we also aim to give back to the city by shooting in local spots and collaborating internationally.
This time, we're undertaking a production crowdfunding (All in) project. Therefore, even if we don't reach our target amount, we will cover any shortfall with our own funds to ensure the film's production, completion, and submission to film festivals. Rewards will also be delivered, so please rest assured.
In the event of any unavoidable circumstances that cause changes or delays to the project, we will promptly report the progress via email and update the articles.
