About this project
Today, our “friends” are becoming more digital and it seems like we are losing analog connections. That is why we are making a “stimulating place you belong to”
Community based guesthouse “Kokotamaya” project
Tamakomachi is making a guesthouse by renting a vacant house. “Kokotamaya” is a interactive guesthouse that will provide you with a blissful moment full of stimulations.
We prioritize in the connections with people and the local community. We will be holding events with the locals and have the guests interact with the community. We believe that we can improve the guesthouse alongside the guests, through our relationships.
As much as the guesthouse will be a place to stay, we want to make the it a place where the guests can meet the students too. We Tamakomachi are mainly made of university students, and this place will be a great place to interact with students.
We want to provide foreign guests and study-abroad students with a place to interact with the community and get to know the fascinating culture of rural Japan.
Our motto is “Analog connections in the digital world”
~YAHO(Kunitachi city)~
Although Tama district, where Yaho is, is not known for its tourism, Yaho has a great potential that will attract many！
For example, Yaho Tennmanngu (4 min walk from the guesthouse) is one of the most historic shires in Japan! There are traditional Japanese houses you can have meals, fancy cafes and restaurants. You can even have agricultural experiences! Hitotsubashi University nearby has a beautiful campus and you could picnic there on a fine day.
But the real beauty of Yaho, is in its everyday life. Obachans(middle aged ladies) working in the rice fields, Otchanns(middle aged men) fishing, kids playing at the river nearby and mothers chattering. There aren’t many places where this peaceful way of life could be seen every day in this digital world anymore, but at Yaho, you could. This is how Japan used to be a short time ago and it is so sad that it is disappearing.
We cannot let this way of Japanese life be gone for good. We wants to publicize this beautiful life to all over the world.
-What “Kokotamaya” will bring to the community -
Kokotamaya will the the hub of the community, bringing about new people to the area. The guesthouse will increase touch points with the “outer world” especially with the younger generation since it will be managed by students. We believe that spreading information about Yaho will attract repeaters that love the city and revitalize the region.

At Kokotamaya, we will be hosting events periodically!
Engaging in these events will make you part of the community whether you stay or not. We are planning to hold events as below.

During the stay, Tamakomachi members will be attending the guests. There are 3 rooms available (max capacity 13 people) and a public room to stimulate interaction. There will also be tours in Kunitachi conducted by students.
～How the money will be used~
Although we planned this great project, we cannot start this guesthouse with only the money we have right now.
The funded money will be used as below.

・Repair of tatami ¥200,000
・Toilet ¥200,000
・Sewage ¥250,000
・Fire alarms ¥50,000
・Crowdfunding fee ¥100,000
If we were able to collect more money than our goal, we will use the money to build a second guesthouse to further realize our mission.

Have your own event at the farm and guesthouse(We will support your event and rent the guesthouse, farm, and restaurant! You can use “Hatakennbo”,a community farm,“Tuchinokoya”, a traditional Japanese house used as a child care center and restaurant both owned by ,“Kunitachi Nouennokai”the NPO we are working with, and the guesthouse for a day. We will help ypu make it an unforgettable one!)

~Possible risks and challenges~
Even if we couldn’t collect ¥1,000,000, we will open Kokotamaya, although it will be something less than that we have been planing. (We will get enough money from the NPO to operate) However, your support will enable us to actually success in this business, so please fund us!
~About Us~
“Tamakomachi”
We “Tamakomachi” are working to make a place “where everyone can realize their dreams”
It was founded this April and students of Hitotsubashi Uni, Jyochi Uni, and Tsuda Uni belong to this group.
We host sports events at the rice field for children, local tours for students abroad alongside the Yaho, Kunitachi community and so on. We also accept field trips aiming to learn Japanese culture conducted by classes and seminars from universities other than Hitotsubashi University too.
One last thing…
The students nowadays run a cycle of doing part-time jobs to go on vacations.
This is no different from a couple decades ago. On the other hand, the world has been changing rapidly. While Japan is losing it’s power, developing countries are starting to gain power in certain areas. And why is that? We think that that is because the power of students are decreasing. Independent unique young generations are the power of every country.
The world is changing every second, so why is it that we students don’t? We, Tamakomachi, will be the pioneer of the new style of students and become the example of a leader that will lead the world for others to follow.

A second year majoring in social sciences at Hitotubashi University. A person that loves to travel all around the world. Founded Tamakomachi this April. “This is the very first step to make Kokotamaya a reality. Please fund us!”
